Coffey County was declared to be in a Drought Warning. Kansas Water Office has also directed City of Burlington to declare a Water Warning and to take necessary action as required by our Water Emergency Operation/Supply and Drought Contingency Plan.
Weather: Although we have had recent rains, precipitation patterns in Kansas remain below normal patterns and drought conditions continue to worsen in Kansas.
Outlook: Counties in emergency stage remain eligible for emergency use of water from certain state fishing lakes due to the Kansas Water Office Memorandum of Understanding with the Kansas Department of Wildlife.
Term of Water Emergency: This Executive Order shall remain in effect until rescinded by Executive Order. The Stage (Warning or Watch) shall be changed only by Executive Order. Kansas Water Office will provide City of Burlington with updates, which will be passed on to the public on a weekly basis.
Conservation Tips: Tips and other information shall be available at Burlington City Hall and on our website at www.burlingtonknasas.gov.
Thank you for all your efforts to conserve water and get all of our communities through this water shortage.
